OPERATIONAL RISK ASSISTANT MANAGER, DUBAI, UNITED ARAB EMIRATES

A regional bank is looking for an Operational Risk professional to join their team in the UAE to work closely with Head of the department and the Head of Fraud Risk to ensure independent and objective identification, assessment, measurement, monitoring and control of operational risk for the Bank.

Responsibilities:

• Formulating the strategy, business plans, policies and procedures of the department to support the business strategy

• Developing and improving the bank's operational risk framework by setting out the principles, methodology and techniques to establish effective operational risk management.

• Facilitating the creation of Risk and Control Assessments for all the processes which would include identification, assessment, monitoring and reporting of key risks and controls

• Updating and expanding existing policies and procedures in light of changing market conditions based on Central Bank regulations and guidelines.

• Handling fraud investigation operations which also includes fraud prevention and mitigation.

Requirements:

• 7-10 years of risk management/ fraud experience at least 2-3 year of which at a similar level with a bank in region

• University degree in Business Administration

A diversified conglomerate based in Bahrain is looking for an Indirect Tax/ VAT Manager who will act as a Business Partner and provide advisory to the management and the business leaders on all VAT Compliance/ Audit and Customs issues across the organization.

Responsibilities:

• Providing accurate and timely advice on indirect taxes and ensuring compliance with legislations

• Supporting and further developing the central VAT compliance team to safeguard quality in compliance and evaluate and improve processes.

• Manage VAT planning and the supervision of VAT registrations

• Ensure the monitoring of VAT reconciliations and return files

• Coordinate with external advisors and closely co-operate with all Indirect tax resources.

Requirements:

• 5-8 years of experience in VAT, preferably with reputed firms or consultancy.

• Degree in (Tax) Economics or (Tax) law.

• Have strong technical knowledge of VAT and customs legislation

• A track record of managing a complex portfolio of strategic and operational issues.

• Provides leadership through effective goal setting, delegation, and communication. Conducts regular staff meetings to ensure that personnel are well informed of changes in programs, policies, and procedures.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or related field or equivalent work experience, CPA, CMA, or MBA preferred

• US, European or Australian trained is an advantage

• Qualified Accountant - ACA, CIMA, ACCA, CPA - with a strong technical background preferable

• Excellent relationship builder and commercially astute, comfortable partnering with the CEO and COO

• Knowledge of Insurance, Banking or Wealth Management

• Technical expertise in all aspects in all aspects of finance and accounts, including IFRS and IAS with regular updates according to relevant changes in regulations.
